Where It Started

In May 2022, our unique ‘With the Chef’ experience launched with Vikram Vij. Since then, more than 500 diners have had the chance to feast and connect directly with Canada’s most well-known and well-liked Indian chef – and you could be next!

His restaurant Vij’s, is located in the easily-accessible Cambie Village neighbourhood of Vancouver. Choose to have your “With The Chef” experiential dining at this Michelin-designated Bib Gourmand restaurant.

What Can I Expect With The Chef?

Chef Vikram welcomes guests with a toast to the evening and the introduction of a popular street food that is popped in the mouth before exploding with flavour.

This sets the stage for the animated story-telling behind each of the chef-selected dishes of the tasting menu.

The evening is capped off with a special chat over dessert and chai, where guests have their burning questions answered about the chef’s experience on Dragon’s Den, his most memorable culinary travels, his favourite recipe or even a secret cooking tip!

This is not a cooking class! This is about savouring the food and the experience of a chef-hosted meal.

Book On Your Schedule; Year-Round

‘With The Chef’ is not a scheduled, one-time event. The evening, which includes a tour of the restaurant and a behind-the-scenes look at the tandoor and the naan-making process, is available to book year-round. This makes it ideal for gift-giving, as the recipients can choose the dates that work best for them.

What Will We Be Eating?

The menus have been carefully selected by the chef to take guests on a flavour adventure that journeys across India, picking up spices and specialties from all over the country. Expect an extensive tasting menu and welcome bubbles.

Guests will finish the evening with full bellies; giddy from the warmth and personal touch of chef’s hospitality .

About the Chef...

Whether you know him from Dragon’s Den or his past restaurants, Rangoli and My Shanti. His work as a certified Sommelier, his time in Salzburg,Austria, or at the Banff Springs Hotel. Maybe you remember him from his time working at Vancouver’s Bishop’s Restaurant. Or his cookbooks with ex-wife and fellow restaurant owner, Meeru Diwali. He’s appeared on multiple Food Network shows as a judge and featured on Anthony Bourdain’s show, No Reservations. The list of accolades goes on…

Since 2022, we have collaborated with Chef Vikram Vij first at the former My Shanti Restaurant in South Surrey and now at the Michelin Bib Gourmand designated restaurant, Vij’s in Vancouver, BC.

Of course, many of you come from Vancouver, but as word gets out, we are welcoming guests from the US and overseas. You love this opportunity for an up-close celebrity chef connection.
