Where It Started

In May 2022, our unique ‘With the Chef’ experience launched at Vikram Vij’s South Surrey restaurant, My Shanti. Since then, almost 150 diners have had the chance to feast and connect directly with Canada’s most well-known and well-liked Indian chef – and you could be next! 

Travelling to Vancouver or South Surrey?

There are TWO locations for you to enjoy your specially curated evening with Chef Vikram Vij:

His original restaurant Vij’s, is located in the easily-accessible Cambie Village neighbourhood of Vancouver. Choose  to have your “With The Chef” experiential dining at this Michelin-designated Bib Gourmand restaurant.

Or, if you’re south of Vancouver, Chef Vikram Vij’s restaurant My Shanti is another option. Situated in Morgan Crossing, My Shanti is a sparkling jewel, with a menu inspired by Vikram’s varied travels throughout India. 

What Can I Expect With The Chef?

At either location Chef Vikram welcomes guests with a toast to the evening and the introduction of a popular street food that is popped in the mouth before exploding with flavour. This sets the stage for the animated story-telling behind each of the chef-selected dishes. The evening is capped off with a special chat  over dessert and chai, where guests have their burning questions answered about the chef’s experience on Dragon’s Den, his most memorable culinary travels, his favourite recipe or even a secret cooking tip!

Book On Your Schedule; Year-Round

‘With The Chef’ is not a scheduled, one-time event. The evening, which includes a tour of the restaurant and a behind-the-scenes look at the tandoor and the naan-making process, is available to book year-round. Guests simply visit the Chew On This Tasty Tours website and purchase a voucher for the experience at either My Shanti or Vij’s. They submit their top three choices for dates and Chew On This coordinates with Chef Vikram Vij  to find a mutually workable evening. This makes it ideal for gift-giving, as the recipients can choose the dates that work best for them.

What Will We Be Eating?

The menus have been carefully selected by the chef to take guests on a flavour adventure that journeys across India, picking up spices and specialties from all over the country. Expect an extensive tasting menu, welcome bubbles, a wine pairing and cocktail options.

Guests will finish the evening with full bellies and giddy from the warmth and personal touch of chef’s hospitality .
